Back at the January NAMM show in Anaheim, Squier unveiled a brand-new "Contemporary" line of modern, reasonably priced guitars. The series debuted with two models—the Contemporary Stratocaster HH and the Contemporary Telecaster HH—and today, at Summer NAMM in Nashville, Squier has unveiled four new models that are joining the line.
The Contemporary series is seeing the addition of the Contemporary Active Jazzmaster HH ST. It comes in either Graphic Black or Surf Green, features a C-shaped neck with a 12" fingerboard radius ideal for speed. Its adjustable bridge and stopbar tailpiece also lends it a lot of stability, making it specifically useful for drop tunings.
New to the Nashville show is the release of a bass guitar variation of the Contemporary line. Offered as of today, Squier has released the Contemporary Jazz Bass, Contemporary Active Jazz Bass HH, and Contemporary Active Jazz Bass HH V.
The Contemporary Jazz Bass is available in a striking Ocean Blue Metallic or Dark Metallic Red finish and differs from the other two in that it's packed with dual Squier ceramic single-coil pickups in the bridge and middle position, featuring standard J-Bass controls. The latter two models each feature dual Squier SQR ceramic humbucking pickups, with the HH variant available in Flat Black or Flat white and the five-string HH V available in Flat Black only.
